Along the Aggitis canyon-hiking trail it is likely that you will stumble across the natural beauty that is Alistrati cave. It is the only river cave in all of Greece and can be found at the southern foot of Falakro mountain. The cave stretches 21 km into the depths of Falakro and is filled with fresh spring water from the mountain. It is a truly magnificent sight with huge red and white stalactites decorating the cave and giving it life. The cave contains a large hydraulic heel, which covered the water, and irrigation needs of the region during the Ottoman era and is home to 37 different kinds of animals.
