Winery Nico Laziridi is an innovative and modern winery located in the local community Agora in the Prefecture of Drama. This area is one of the most promising vine regions of east Macedonia not to mention one of the most beautiful! Mountains including Falakro in the North, Meniko in the West and Pangeon in the North East surround it. The ancient Greeks believed that Mount Pangeo was the birthplace of Dionysus, the God of grape harvest and winemaking.
The winery has been built inside the main vineyard and has a unique structure designed by the local architect Matsinis. His vision was to create a facility shaped in a way that would offer both employees and visitors a view of their surroundings. He has included a ‘Magic Mountain’ tower, which visitors can climb in order to have a fantastic panoramic view of the vineyards and wider area.
Winery Nico Lazaridi is committed to producing wine of the highest of quality using state of the art equipment and experimenting with new, effective and modern cultivation techniques. Visitors are able to tour the vineyards and learn about the entire winemaking procedure in great detail right from where the grapes are collected up until the storage and ageing of wines in underground cellars. White, rose and red wines can all be tasted and bought. Their white varieties include: Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Ugni Blanc, Chardonnay, Muscat of Alexandria and their red varieties are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Grenache Rouge, Sangiovese.
