At Lydia’s Baptistery lies the Zygaktis river, once associated with the underworld in Greek mythology. It is at this location many years later, the first ever baptism of a Greek European woman named Lydia, took place. The baptism was performed by Apostle Paul. Both the modern orthodox baptistery and the original one in the river can be found here.
