The Water Road Hiking Tour

The “Water Road” path is a mild hiking route that splits into two sections of varying intensity. The first section, which is approximately 5.5 kilometers in length, ends at the location of “Tria Karagatsia”, where the the old water supply source of the town during the Ottoman period was situated. In this first section, we will encounter the entire old water supply network of the town, large fountains and reservoirs, all dating back to the Ottoman period. The second section, which is geared towards more demanding hikers, reaches the village of Old Kavala. Through a beautiful path, overlooking Thassos and the Philippi valley, we reach a verdant and admire the settlement of Palia Kavala village. This is one of the most important footpaths in Kavala, not just for its aesthetic value but primarily for its historical and cultural value.
